General Introductions

Thai Nguyen University of Technology has mission in training human resources with levels of graduate and postgraduate, qualifying the national and international standards, meeting the needs of scientific, technical and managerial staff in the area of industry, serving the economic and social development of the country, especially the midland and mountainous areas in the North.

For the purpose of building the university to be a leading one of industry and technology in Viet Nam with many fields at  the same level with advanced universities in the world, the university has always paid special attention to the building and improving the organization and  development of the staff.

At present, TNUT provides 31 undergraduate training programs including 3 programs taught in English, 6 master and 2 doctoral programs with the population of 8000 students and a staff of about 590 including more than 400 lecturers. Particularly, TNUT has been listed among 23 leading universities in Vietnam assigned to implement the project "Advanced Programs in cooperation with advanced universities in developed countries in duration from 2008 to 2015" with 2 programs of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in cooperation with the State University of New York at Buffalo and Oklahoma State University, USA.

Currently, there are 9 faculties in our university. They are:

1. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; 

2. Faculty of Electrical Engineering

3. Faculty of Electronics Engineering;  

4. Faculty of Industrial Economics

5. Faculty of Automotive and Engines

6. Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering

7. Faculty of Technical Teachers’ Training; 

8. Faculty of Fundamental Sciences

9. Faculty of International Training

Also, there are many centers in the university including Center for Laboratories, Center for Technical Practice and Center for International Training and Cooperation and so on.

Due to the increasingly high demands for the quality of training in order to satisfy the requirements brought by international integration trend, the lecturers’ improvement of specialty level and foreign languages as well as informatics is urgent. Up to now, 93 percent of the lecturers are good at English or they obtained TOEFL ITP above 450.

In the three years from 2011 to 2016, the university delegated 295 lecturers to visit, work, study and practice at cooperation universities in some countries such as Thailand, Japan, Korea, Japan, United States and Australia… and  received 165 international lecturers and students from partner universities to visit, give lectures and practice at TNUT.

Besides, scientific research and technology transfer have been unceasingly sped up and developed. From 2000 to 2017, the university carried out 760 scientific research projects at all levels and published 700 articles in national as well as international journals and conferences.

Planning, training and developing the personnel and enhancing management competence have always been interested. At the moment, the university has 115 managers from deputy head of division to higher levels, an increase of 2.3 times compared to the year 2000.

Annually, the emulation review, awards, commendations of titles for staff and faculty are publicly and seriously implemented, which timely motivates and strongly promotes staff and faculty to strive for successfully completing all the duties of each school-year.
