In order to promote the tradition of mutual affection of Vietnam and to show the university’s concern for the disadvantaged students at Thai Nguyen University of Technology (TNUT), on the morning of November 18th 1977, TNUT held a ceremony to give gifts to the disadvantaged students on the occasion of Tet holiday.

Many distinguished guests and representatives were present, including Associate Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Duc - Party Secretary, Vice Rector; Dr. Nguyen Thi Quoc Dzung - Vice President of Trade Union, Head of Administration Department; MA. Nguyen Tien Dung - Vice Secretary of Youth Union, Chairman of Students Union, Deputy Head of Department; MA Le Xuan Hung - Deputy Secretary of Youth Union, Vice Director of General Service Center; teachers, cadres from functional departments and offices, and 150 TNUT disadvantaged students.

At the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Vice President of Trade Union said, “Today the University prepares 150 Tet gifts to give to the students with a total cost of 34.4 million VND. Although the gifts are of small material value, they show the big concern and sentiment of all the staff and the teachers towards our students. This action also aims at promoting the Vietnamese good cultural traditions, reflecting the spirit of mutual affection in the school in particular, and in the social community in general.”

On behalf of the disadvantaged students, Nong Van Huy, a first year student at Faculty of International Training, said, "Over the past time, with our own effort, the big encouragement and precious sharing from our teachers and friends, we have worked hard and overcome many difficulties in studies and in life. We are very touched and extremely grateful to the teachers who gave us not only meaningful gifts but also warm hearts. Thanks to those great things, we will certainly have a really happy and meaningful Tet holiday with our family. On behalf of those who receive the gifts on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2017, we promise to become good students and successful citizens, so as to pay for the sentiment and concern that we receive from the teachers.”

The ceremony ended with many good impressions inside the participants. The beautiful images of overcoming difficulties of the disadvantaged students were expected to be a great inspiration for all the other students at TNUT.
